Garden club events in Pagosa Springs,CO
The Mountain High Garden Club in Pagosa Springs, CO began in March, 2004 as a gathering place for local residents interested in gardening successfully at high altitude. The club is an Educational Non-Profit Organization. Our founding Officers were Frances Wholf, President. Chris Hostetter was VP, Jan Dotson, Secretary and Shari Gustafson, Treasurer, completed the Board of Directors. Thanks to our Founders for their efforts.
Since its inception, the club has invited expert speakers, toured places of interest such as exotic nurseries, farms, and held beautiful garden tours featuring both flowers and veggies. We hold workshops where we've shared knowledge about subjects from bonsai to water gardens as well as, growing tips for adapting to our short growing season and harsh climate.
Many of our founding members are still enthusiastically active participants in our activities and social events. Over time the club has grown in membership and activities. We greet spring with our annual garden expo where local merchants and members sell new gardening products. Members exchange plant cuttings and seedlings for each new season of gardening. We share our gardens during our annual garden tour for the community to enjoy our horticultural efforts.
Beautifying the community has been an activity. The group has donated and planted in various locales such as the Senior Garden in 2010.
Social events are a large part of club activities. Summer picnics, potluck luncheons, and monthly meetings held at the CSU Extension building are always highlighted by tasty refreshments. Fun continues to be had by all.
